Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the HISPA Role Model Program platform (the “Platform”) operated by HISPA Inc.(“HISPA,” “we,” “us”). By accessing the Platform or requesting an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility & accounts

The Platform is for HISPA staff, approved volunteer role models, and authorized school contacts. Accounts are provisioned by HISPA following an access request and review. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend, revoke, or remove access at any time, including for violations of these Terms.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Access data or accounts that are not yours, or attempt to bypass security or access controls;
• Use the Platform for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
• Upload malicious code or disrupt the Platform's operation;
• Misuse personal information of role models, students, schools, or staff; or
• Copy, scrape, or redistribute Platform data except as needed for the program.

3. Role model commitments

Volunteers participating through the Platform agree to follow program requirements, including the HISPA Code of Conduct and any onboarding, background-check, and safety requirements applicable to working with students. Reserving a session is a commitment to attend or to cancel with reasonable notice so the slot can be reopened.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the information and materials you submit (for example, your bio, presentation, or photo). You grant HISPA a non-exclusive license to use that content to operate the program — including sharing your role-model profile with schools hosting your sessions.

5. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its software, design, and HISPA branding, is owned by HISPA or its licensors and is protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or to the Platform beyond the limited access described here.

6. Third-party services

The Platform may integrate with third-party services (for example, email, scheduling, forms, and analytics tools). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

7. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HISPA and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HISPA from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Platform or violation of these Terms or applicable law.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in New Jersey will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Platform.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
